The Statement on Auditing Standards (SAS No. 70) is a widely recognized auditing standard developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). The SAS No. 70 standard is geared toward service organizations or service providers of information technology and related processes. Organizations under SAS 70 Type II audit scrutiny must demonstrate adequate controls and safeguards when they host or process data belonging to customers.
